we are having a Color Blooms Hop over at the STAMPlorations Blog. I chose a page from the coloring book and turned it into a Mixed Media Tag:

  • create a background on a tag cut from watercolor paper using Distress Paints (Iced Spruce, Broken China, Peacock Feathers)
  • tear the coloring book page apart and glue the strips onto the tag with the help of Dina Wakley Gel Medium
  • tone the whole tag down with some white gesso
  • apply Distress Ink (Iced Spruce) through the ARTplorations Leaf Prints stencil and Grit Paste through the ARTplorations Swirly Blooms stencil
  • let everything dry thoroughly
  • apply Distress Ink (Black Soot) through the ARTplorations Bloom Silhouettes stencil and heat-emboss the flowers with clear embossing powder
  • mix Distress Paint (Chipped Sapphire) with Acrylic Glazing Liquid and use the mixture over the Grit Paste
  • ink up the edges with Distress Ink (Black Soot)
  • doodle around the wildflowers with a white gel pen
  • dye a piece of seam binding with Distress Ink (Iced Spruce, Chipped Sapphire, Black Soot) and thread it through the hole of the tag
  • add some splatters and paint drips with watered-down Distress Ink (Black Soot)
